What it worked out on its own
Each tile arrives from four times its own distance out, along the line from the centre through its final place — random directions look like a shuffle, outward looks like assembly.
Tiles land in order of distance from the middle, so the square grows outward. Filling row by row reads as a progress bar.
Once all sixteen are down the gaps close to nothing: sixteen separate pictures becoming one surface is the piece, and it needs the frames it takes to be seen.
