What it worked out on its own
The ring is the calendar: twelve segments filling as the reel runs, and the only element that persists — which is what turns twelve shots into one year.
The month bleeds off the bottom edge. Centred at a readable size it is a caption; at four times that, cropped, it is the design.
December holds four times as long and brings the year with it. A reel that ends on its twelfth identical beat has no ending.
