What it worked out on its own
Squash and stretch, with the volume conserved: the deformation is 1/s against s, which is what makes it read as rubber rather than as a scale keyframe.
Three bounces, each about half the height and less time than the one before. A child already knows that ratio, and getting it wrong is more noticeable than getting the colours wrong.
The shadow shrinks as the ball rises — it is what tells a child how high it went.
Letter, then word, then the letter inside the word. The other way round makes the letter an annotation of the word.
